GENERAL DUTIES:
The Chief of Police is
the chief executive officer of the Police Department. The
Chief is responsible for the protection of lives and
property within the Town of Springdale through the
operation and administration of all police functions. The
Chief organizes, controls and directs the personnel and
resources of the Police Department. Furthermore, the Chief
of Police serves in the unclassified service of the Town.
The Chief’s position is appointed as provided by
Ordinance. Under such procedures and as Ordinance may
prescribe, the Chief of Police has exclusive control of
the assignment and transfer of all officers and employees
comprising the police force. The Chief of Police has
considerable latitude in the exercise of independent
judgment and discretion in the management and operation of
the Police Department.

Day to Day operation of the
department; in charge of the department in Chief’s absent;
supervise patrol; oversee investigations and cases; handles
all related General Session Court Cases; grand jury;
officers training - recertification classes; Criminal
warrants; maintain outstanding warrants; uniform traffic
ticket; evidence custodian; final disposition of General
Session Court cases; drugs and weapons destruction;
maintain all police records; prepare town police reports
(monthly); prepare SLED reports (monthly); upkeep of the
police computer system; officers time schedule; maintain
supplies for the department, officers, and police
vehicles; neighborhood patrol. Enforce the laws and
ordinances of the Town of Springdale and the State of
South Carolina. Prepares court cases and testifies in
court as needed.
Supervise patrol and reserve
officers; patrol the streets and neighborhoods of
Springdale; field training of officers; investigations;
crime prevention classes to the public and schools;
checking of police records. Enforce the laws and
ordinances of the Town of Springdale and the State of
South Carolina. Prepares court cases and testifies in
court as needed.

Patrol the streets and
neighborhoods of Springdale; investigations. Enforce the
laws and ordinances of the Town of Springdale and the
State of South Carolina. Prepares court cases and

Logging in of all warrants
and traffic tickets; preparing criminal warrants;
producing court dockets for court and to
schedule court dates; to assist and maintain records of
all court procedures; transmitting traffic tickets to
highway department; Scheduling jury trials, and
preliminary hearings; collecting court fines; collection
reports to the state - monthly; SLED dispositions.
Victim’s Assistance Officer:
- To assist
victims of certain criminal offense; by notifying them of
what their rights are as a victim, helping with victim
impact statements, notification of court and with court,
assistance with receiving medical treatment, notifying the
victim of their duties as a victim. And other related
duties to this office.
Administrative Assistant: - Assist the clerk of court with court room duties;
collection of court fines; logging of traffic citation;
transmitting of traffic accidents reports. And other
related duties to this office.
School
Assistance Officers:
The “SAO” performs
all law enforcement duties associated with a fully
qualified police officer. The SAO is responsible for
developing programs to prevent school violence, the use
of drugs, alcohol, and tobacco. The SAO will establish a
relationship between youth and law enforcement. The SAO
will attend all school functions and field trips to
assist teachers and parents. The SAO will work with all
school administrators to assist in maintaining a safe
learning environment.
